Shipping containers stalled at a U.S. port due to the ILA strike.

PORT STRIKE and how is it Effecting Refrigerants Pricing?

As of October 2024 , nearly 50,000 members of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) began a strike against our nation’s East and Gulf Coast ports from Maine to Texas.

This action has halted the flow of many American imports and exports in what could become the country’s most disruptive work stoppage in decades.

Refrigerants Center is taking the following steps in response to this action. Effective immediately, all pricing that has been provided is no longer valid.

All future pricing will be valid through the end of every business day.

Order quantities may be restricted with no pre-buys allowed. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this issue.

If you have any questions or require pricing, please feel free to email us or call.

How the Port Strike Disrupts the Refrigerant Supply Chain

The ongoing port strike has caused a significant disruption in the refrigerant supply chain, leading to shipment delays, restricted inventory, and high market volatility. Major refrigerants like R-134a, R-22, and R-410A are imported or depend on components sourced via ports on the East and Gulf Coasts. With dock operations halted, suppliers across the country are experiencing limited restocking capabilities. This bottleneck especially impacts commercial HVAC contractors and bulk purchasers who rely on consistent access to refrigerant gases.

Impact on High-Demand Products

For example, cylinders of R-410A refrigerant and R-22 Freon are seeing fluctuating availability, affecting project planning and cost estimation. As a result, daily pricing has become the new standard. We recommend checking our Refrigerants Catalog each day for updated availability and compliance notices. For contractors and wholesalers, placing orders early in the day can help secure limited inventory before restrictions are applied.

Navigating Refrigerant Purchasing During National Supply Chain Disruptions

In times of national labor unrest, knowing where to buy refrigerants online becomes critical. At Refrigerants Center, we’re committed to providing certified refrigerants to EPA-licensed professionals despite external disruptions. Our internal logistics and fulfillment team is working hard to maintain fast delivery across the U.S., even as port access remains uncertain. We’re prioritizing customer orders for essential refrigerants like R-134a, R-410A, and R-22, ensuring safety-compliant packaging and shipping.

To stay informed and make smarter purchasing decisions, explore our homepage for updated notices, promotions, and compliance updates: Visit Refrigerants Center. We encourage customers to sign up for alerts and check our R-410A category regularly for restock information. Your patience and planning during this time can help minimize business interruptions and reduce the long-term impact of inventory shortages caused by the strike.
